Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home

“The Manchester & District Home for Lost Dogs was founded in 1893 by a group of Manchester Businessmen who were concerned about the large number of stray dogs roaming the City. Over the years the City of Manchester has grown around Manchester Dogs’ Home and it is now very much an inner city rescue centre. To off set the inner city environment of our Manchester Home, we regenerated a run-down site that is now know as Cheshire Dogs’ Home.”

“Our stated mission is the care of stray and unwanted dogs, including the care of sick and injured dogs and to encourage, facilitate and promote the benefits of responsible dog ownership.”

Care for the Paw

“Care For The Paw is a non-profit organisation, which came into being after the three Directors Amanda Rodaway, Angela Furnival and Jan Hughes met as Volunteers at a local Dogs’ Home.”

“They found that most of the dogs which came into the Home were there through no fault of their own, and with a little education about Canine Welfare, Care For The Paw could make a world of difference to the way dogs are treated and understood by their owners.”

“Care For The Paw visits many types of education facilities to educate the whole age range of children in Canine Welfare, tailoring our talk to be age-relevant. We also visit other types of organisations, such as Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, etc.”

German Shepherd Dog Rescue

“German Shepherd Rescue is a organisation dedicated to the rescue, short term fostering and long-term re-homing of German Shepherd Dogs. Unwanted GSD’s are found new homes through its placement scheme which carefully matches up rescued Shepherds with their potential new owners. Owners, new and old, are provided with any support and guidance they may need.”

“The rescue is run by a dedicated group of volunteers with a love of German Shepherds, giving their time and devotion to the welfare of this wonderful breed. We do not have our own kennels (yet) so any urgent dogs that come into our care are either fostered or have to be put into commercial boarding kennels until a new home is found. We cover the whole of the UK.”
